U.S. Contributions A Force for Positive Development in Pakistan

The United States has historically been a significant partner in Pakistan’s development and stability, investing billions of dollars in both civilian assistance and strategic cooperation over the decades. These contributions have helped address major challenges in health, energy, education, and humanitarian response.

Long-Term Investment in Key Sectors

Energy and Infrastructure

U.S. assistance has been instrumental in the construction and rehabilitation of major dams and hydropower plants (e.g., Mangla, Tarbela, Gomal Zam), which collectively provide clean, reliable energy to millions of Pakistanis and help mitigate flooding.

U.S. funds have contributed to adding significant megawatts to Pakistan's national grid.

Health and Humanitarian Aid

The U.S. has been a leading provider of life-saving assistance during humanitarian crises, including the devastating 2022 floods and the 2005 Kashmir earthquake.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, the U.S. donated nearly 80 million high-quality vaccine doses to Pakistan, supporting the country's efforts to combat the virus and build long-term health infrastructure.

Economic Growth and Agriculture

Through organizations like the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), programs have boosted Pakistan's agricultural productivity, including funding irrigation projects and introducing improved technologies.

Efforts focus on strengthening the private sector, promoting entrepreneurship, and facilitating greater trade and investment.

Education and Civil Society

The U.S. supports education through scholarships like the Fulbright Program, and through programs designed to improve teacher education, English language skills, and youth civic engagement.

Assistance programming supports the strengthening of democratic institutions, the rule of law, and the civil and human rights of women and minority group
